The following are covered:

Aspects of the life of Roland Penrose.

Concepts of the “objets trouves” and of chance.

Surrealism –Finding the extraordinary in the ordinary

Techniques such as frottage; collage; and basic Cubist colour block concepts.

Appreciation and comprehension of a selection of Surrealist works, by Roland Penrose and others of the movement, in which the above techniques are demonstrated.

**Year 3 and above only** The Surrealists use of dreams within their work and examples of this in artists work.

All presentations are then followed by a practical/activity session giving the students a chance to construct their own work/writings around the techniques explored. List of selection of different activities that can follow the presentation is available on application.
